Reuters released a story on October 16th outlining a possible deal between Belarusian Potash Company and China for 860,000 tons of Potash. After Friday’s closing bell, Potash Corp. lowered their third-quarter and full year guidance. Potash cited slowing sales volume, due to stagnating demand. Potash inventories in North America declined by over 8.5% in August, falling 304,000 tonnes, steadying at just a shade above 3 million tonnes. Inventory levels are still 150% above five-year averages but this is to be expected when considering the Potash boom hit only two years ago.
Potash Corp announced earnings of $1.02 for the first quarter in last nights earning conference call. This is down from $1.72 in last years first quarter.
